Evaluation part 2
What have you learned from your audience feedback?
Through out all of the stages of the production of our video and creating the digipak and website we found audience feedback essential to producing a successful final product. In order to do this we constructed a range of different medias to suit to a varied group of people; we created questionnaires, surveys and interviewed our friends as they fitted into our target market perfectly. This proved to be greatly helpful as we were able to adjust changes as the products were being finalised to ensure it would be fit for its target market and fitting well of the Dance music genre.
Initially we created surveys which we handed out in class and in our free period, we gathered the results. From this we gathered that house and dance was formerly the most popular and in addition to see music videos without a clear narrative proved to be more exciting to view. this was prior to filming or editing the video.
During the editing stages of our video we frequently gained feedback through interviews as we showed possible audience members our existing product and gathered their ideas and improvements. Our video was our main product so it was important we required regular criticism. we vastly received positive comments such as people loved the use of colour and the text of the footage, however we also gained helpful comments such as shots that didn't flow well or cropping that could be changed.
We created the Digipak and Website whilst the video was in the final stages of being complete; we were very confident that we could make the necessary visual links between the three ancillary products although we knew it would still be useful to gain feedback. So we again used the interview process as we found that to be successful, we showed a group of young people the ideas and it resulted with many positive comments. In addition when we as a group were pleased with the final products we had produced for the website and digipak we produced an online survey before publishing to touch up any areas that we may not have found to be an issue ourselves.
The feedback we received throughout making our digipak proved to be most useful as we originally didn't select suitable colours, which we edited several times along with the font. We were then pleased with the final result which proved to now be well suited and visually linked with our music video.
As a result the audience feedback proved to be essential in creating, developing and improving our products to the audience required tastes and expectations from the genre. The criticism particularly aided this as well as the positive comments which reassured us we were producing products fit for its purpose.
